This five week dressmaking course is suitable for all levels and gives you the freedom to work on your chosen project with help and guidance from our experienced dressmaking teacher. As well as fitting and help with perfecting your sewing techniques, you’ll get to take the course at your own pace and enjoy lots of sewing chat!

If you’re a beginner dressmaker we can help you get started with your first dressmaking project, and if you’re a more experienced sewist who wants guidance with a specific project or techniques, we’ll help with that too! Our Dressmaking Freestyle course is specifically designed so you can enjoy learning how to sew your own clothes with help and support from an expert teacher in our social, friendly and fully equipped studio.
Prior to the start of your class we’ll contact you to see whether you’d like to bring your own pattern and to make sure it’s a suitable level, or whether you’d like to follow one of our guided plans (we have these for beginner and improver dressmakers), in which case we’ll provide you with the patterns.
Our sewing classes are relaxed and friendly, taking place at our beautiful studio at Holme Grange Craft Village in Wokingham, Berkshire. Students get to use our brand new digital Janome sewing machines and class sizes are capped to ensure everyone gets the space, time and attention they need. Please note morning courses run from 10.30am – 1pm and evening courses run from 6pm – 8.30pm for 5 weeks.
WHAT’S INCLUDED
The class includes expert instruction, use of the Janome machines, tools plus tea, coffee and biscuits!
YOU NEED TO BRING
You’ll need to bring your chosen pattern (if you’re not following one of our guided plans) and required fabric and notions, including matching thread, zips etc. If you’re not sure what to make or need any guidance, please Contact Us before the course and we can give you some advice.
You don’t need to bring a sewing machine or sewing kit (scissors, pens, pencils, unpickers etc) as our sewing studio is fully equipped.
SKILL LEVEL
Confident Beginner (3) and upwards. Please note, this is not a complete beginner sewing class – you do need to know how to use a sewing machine comfortably, but you can be new to dressmaking. If you’re unsure please check our class levels here. Our Introduction to Sewing class is the best for complete beginners to sewing.
