Do you have a favourite dress or top, or maybe the perfect pair of trousers that you’ve wished you could clone? Our Copy Your Clothes Class will help you create a pattern from your garment without you having to unpick your precious original! Plus our new and improved class now allows you to make up a toile from your newly created pattern, learn how to sew it up and get expert fitting advice so you can feel even better in your version than you do in the original!
Our expert teacher Sheona will talk you through the best methods for creating a paper pattern. This will include adding relevant markings such as grainline and notches, deciding where to interface and give you tips as you sew up your toile. You’ll then check the fit and make sure you transfer any markings back to your pattern. Depending on the speed you sew at and the complexity of the pattern you might even get to start sewing your final version.
WHAT’S INCLUDED
The class includes expert instruction, tools and equipment to draft your pattern, pattern paper, calico to sew up your toile plus tea, coffee and cake!
YOU NEED TO BRING
Your chosen garment; choose made from fabric that you’ve had some experience of sewing before, since the focus of the workshop is on pattern making and fit, you’ll need to comfortable sewing confidently on your own. If your project is from a fabric you’ve never sewn with before, you may not get the most out of this class. It’s a good idea to bring a couple of pieces to choose from as the tutor can give you advice on which is the most suitable option depending on your level of skills and experience. If your garment is made from stretch fabric, please bring a similar weight and stretch fabric to toile with as we will have woven toile fabrics in the studio. If you’re not sure or have any questions, please Contact Us. You’ll need to bring a suitable fashion fabric to sew your final version in case you’re super speedy and get to that point!
