We are absolutely delighted to announce we’ll be welcoming Isabella Serrano and her fabulous 2-day Bra Camp class to the Sewisfaction studio for a special VIP class this Autumn.
Bra Camp is a two-day, intensive bra-making workshop. You will not only learn how to sew an underwire bra, but you will also receive personal bra fittings and learn how to modify the paper pattern accordingly so you can make it again and again. We will cover material functionality and tips and tricks for sewing a beautifully finished bra that looks just as lovely on the inside as it does on the outside. Bella will even bring sample sizes of the patterns so you can try them on before sewing your own, and all the materials you need for this class such as fabrics, laces and notions are included in the course cost, as is lunch both days!

BRA CAMP BREAKDOWN
Day One (10am – 6pm):
We will start the day going over all the materials needed to make a bra. Bella will provide sample cup sizes that you can try on to find your correct size. Once your size is determined you will sew a toile of the band to practice sewing techniques and to make sure the band fits properly.
Everyone will have the opportunity to have a one-on-one fitting with Bella. Together you will assess the fit and make the necessary modifications to your paper pattern. You may also assess the fit on your own. Whatever makes you feel comfortable!
The day will end with a demonstration on how to cut out the bra so that the lace is mirrored on both cups.
Day Two (10am – 6pm):
Day two is dedicated to sewing the final bra. Bella will teach you construction methods for achieving beautifully finished bra that looks just as good on the inside as it does on the outside
WHAT’S INCLUDED
The class includes everything you need for this two day course, except your personal copy of the pattern and underwires (please read below).
Fabrics, lace, elastics and all other notions are included. We will contact you prior to the class so you can choose your kit.
All tools, materials, use of machines, threads are also included.
Two days (10am – 6pm) of expert instruction from Bella, plus Sheona will also be on hand to assist.
Tea, coffee, soft drinks and cakes biscuits will be provided as will a buffet lunch platter on both days (you are of course welcome to bring your own or visit the downstairs cafe if you’d prefer!).
Underwire shapes and sizes vary hugely per person and are part of getting the perfect fit. Bella will have a selection of underwire styles for you to try with your bra and will confirm which size/style will work best for you. You can then simply pop these in afterwards and we’ll provide you with details of where to purchase them from. They cost in the region of £3 per pair.
YOU NEED TO BRING
Due to pattern copyright laws, everyone will need to have purchased their own PDF copy of the bra pattern prior to the class. You do not need to print your pattern, we will have printed copies in the studio for you but you do need to own your own PDF copy. The course price has been reduced to reflect you purchasing your own pattern. Everything else is included, including your fabrics and notions – see above.
We will be sewing the Harriet Bra by Cloth Habit or the Lusamine Bra by Lilypa Designs. These are great patterns, because they offer support while still appearing delicate and beautiful. They have a 3-piece cup, which allows for good cup volume and scooped back, which is not only very comfortable to wear, but is also more supportive than a
tapered back. These are great first bras to learn bra making techniques that you can then use to make many other styles of bras!
SKILL LEVEL
You need to be comfortable using a sewing machine and working with small slippery pieces of fabric! You don’t need to have sewn lingerie before.
TEACHER
Bella is an experienced seamstress and teacher who has developed her Bra Camp class so she can spread her passion of teaching others how to sew well fitting lingerie. Born in San Francisco Bay and currently travelling around Europe, we are lucky enough for Bella to be joining us whilst visiting the UK. This is her only Bra Camp planned in the SE/London area!
