Description
Making a sewing pattern to fit you is often the trickiest part of sewing. You can’t try on the pattern before you sew it up and none of our bodies are the same shape or size!
Our expert dressmaking teacher will help you understand what size to make based on your actual measurements, and show you how to make some common adjustments to make your paper pattern fit you better.
The adjustments you’ll make will depend on you and your shape, but the most common adjustments include;
- Grading between pattern sizes if your proportions fall across different sizes.
- Adjusting for a full or small bust
- Raising/Lowering the waist
- Lengthening/Shortening Hems
- Sleeve/shoulder adjustments
- Hip and bottom fitting
This class will help you make alterations to your paper pattern so that when you go home you’ll be ready to sew up the garment and get a better fit. You won’t be cutting your fabric or sewing in this class – it focuses solely on fitting your pattern. The class is capped at 8 people so that everyone gets the attention they need, not everyone will need to make all the adjustments mentioned above, and other adjustments not mentioned maybe discussed depending on the needs of the students in the class.
